When
Alexander von Humboldt landed in Acapulco on March
23, 1803 he couldn't have imagined what Acapulco
would look like 200 years later. The magnificent
bay with its golden beaches and the dark green
mountains of the Sierra Madre del Sur in the background
had changed into Mexico's most exciting vacation
resort, playground for the rich and for the poor,
for the young and for the not so young.

During
daytime the place to be is the beach where you
can surf, waterski, jetski, parachute, ride a
banana or just enjoy being alive. Or you can take
a trip around the bay to see where Johnny Weissmüller
lived or Jack Kennedy spent his honeymoon, see
the homes of Frank Sinatra, Diego Riviera and
many others of the rich and the famous. Or rent
a boot and try to catch some really big fish and
if you are lucky you may even see the most exciting
sunset ever.
It
is at night when Acapulco really comes to life.
Countless discos, restaurants and bars offer great
music, food and drinks to make you feel like you
never want to leave this place.
On
the following pages you will find a complete list
of hotels available in Acapulco and a lot of useful
information for the first timer or for the veteran
of this great city on Mexico's Pacific Coast,
visited by Alexander von Humboldt more than 200
years ago.
